NASA and the Latest News on Space Shuttles

The recent delay of the Discovery space shuttle may also pose a problem with NASA's plans to fly another shuttle mission this year. They also have one more final mission scheduled. Funding for the trips may not become available though because of the recession and government freezes on the budget.
The delay is caused by cracks found in the fuel tank. Only two others exist, those proposed for the future missions. If it can't be repaired only two extra flights will be possible. The extra mission, STS-135, may have to be cancelled.
The Discovery's mission for flight STS-133 is to bring supplies and a robotic helping device to the International Space Station. Initially planned for November 2010, hopes are that it will be ready February 24.
The space shuttle, Endeavour is set to deliver an astrophysics project to the station in April. After 132 shuttle missions so far, NASA is retiring the 30 year old fleet.
If the added STS-135 mission is possible , the space shuttle Atlantis to prepare for the continuation of the International Space Station after NASA discontinues the space program.
