College Faculty and Staff Adapt to Information Age Via Latest Technology Learning

The faculty members of Santa Barbara City College understand the need to go at least one ahead of their students in this ever-changing world of information technology. This is why the Faculty Resource Center of the institution spearheaded Human Presence workshops in June last year, and just this January, 2011. The faculty and staff were trained to know how to use the newest technology resources that can be utilize for their classes-be it online, Web-enhanced campus-based, or hybrid.
A customized Moddle interface is being used by the Human Presence Learning Environment of SBCC. This makes real-time and time-shifted interaction for person to person with the use of the computer possible for them. The participants were able to learn technologies such as face-to-face communication via video call and chat, microblogging, asynchronous communication, video presentation software, and desktop collaboration.
